Green Your Christmas List!

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Are you trying to be more “green”? It is the in thing these days, especially with the worldwide meeting going on in Copenhagen.

We can all improve on the ways we do things. Using less paper towels, will result in less wood products being used and trees being cut down. Trees are however a renewable source, they just take years to grow. 16 x 24 towels 5 colors oct. 2009 (500 x 325)

Using microfiber hand towels, microfiber dish cloths and cleaning cloths can help you be more green. They are washable, which makes them reusable. Microfiber is known to remove over 99% of bacteria off of a hard surface with just water. They will not only save you on chemical cleaners but on paper toweling as well.

So if you are assorted 12x12 dish cloths-medlooking to buy someone, something “green”this year, buy them microfiber products. Microfiber is available in many different products now, from dish cloths, hand towels, dish towels, microfiber mops and dustere, microfiber bath towels, spa towels, facial cloths, window cleaning towels, auto detailing towels, cloth diapers, pet and sport products.

If you are looking for other types of green products: check out “Let”s Go Green”. They have everything 50% off with this code: 50off till the end of the year. They carry water bottles, biodegradable garbage bags, composters, biodegradable disposable plates, bowls, glasses, office supplies and many more items. I really like my water bottle I got from them, so I got some for my kids and grandchilds for Christmas. I also have gotten the garbage bags for our use and for our church’s use. This is really a good deal, stock up and save.

Washing Windows is Easier & Faster with Microfiber!

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Are your windows dirty and grimy from all the summer dirt and dust. Get them sparkling clean using hot water and a microfiber towel.

We washed 16 x 16 AssortedMicrofiber All PurposeCcloths (500 x 305)our windows and screens last week. It is cheaper and easier to wash them with a microfiber towel and just hot water. I wash them with a microfiber all purpose cloth and dry them with a 20″ x 40″ waffle weav20 x40 Microfiber Waffle Weave Towel - Purplee towel. I can wash almost all of the them from inside the house, since I have pop down windows. That way I can wash the screens from the inside as well.

The microfiber does a great job of grabbing the dirt, pulling it into the cloth, leaving your windows and doors sparkling clean. I dry them with a waffle weave towel, because it is the most absorbent. One 20″ x 40″ towel will dry all of my windows. What a savings over using paper towels. It is washable and reusable.

If you use the store bought window cleaners, they may contain petroleum products which will leave a film on your windows. This film will attract dirt, and leave them looking streaky. Your windows will stay cleaner longer, (as long as you don’t have pets and children “decorating ” them).

Be green and use microfiber – a reusable product!

Do you have pets that shed? Ugh, pet hair is everywhere! A great way to clean it up, is to use a microfiber mop. The unique attracting ability of a microfiber mop picks the hair up on the mop, leaving your floor clean.

After you have “swept” a section or pad is getting full,  just clean off the mop pad by shaking or scrapping it off into a waste basket and continue sweeping. It is amazing what that pad will pick up. One of my customers told me she has dogs and scatter rugs. She just picks up the rugs and damp mops her floors with a microfiber mop; she said it was a great way to clean her floors.

We have both have found that since we have been cleaning with a microfiber mop we don’t have to dust as often. The mop picks up the fine dust and dirt, instead of just pushing it around. You get less airborne particles that land then on your furniture. And who isn’t for dusting less!!

Clean Your Vinyl Siding – The “Green” Way!

Vinyl Siding

Is the vinyl siding on your house dirty, green or moldy?

Clean it with Exterior PROx – Deck & Patio Cleaner, a mop or a microfiber cloth. These products will remove the dirt, grime and mold quickly and easily.

We have cleaned our house with a number of other products, liquid siding cleaners – some are of which are quite toxic to plants. But Exterior PROx is safe for you and the environment. We didn’t have to cover the plants or wait till they had died down in the fall, to wash the house.

This product cut through the dirt and mold quite easily, rinsing completely, leaving our house looking like new again.

We use a microfiber cloth with it’s pulling power on the bottom rows, and with a ladder and sponge mop cleaning the upper rows of siding. I like to wash our “house” about once a year, but the tops of the north and south ends have been neglected, since we didn’t have a ladder tall enough to reach them. But yesterday the whole house got its bath!

While I was at it, I cleaned up my plastic chairs as well, getting rid of the dirt and grime. Another day we will clean the decks.

One thing I noticed is that the Exterior PROx removed spots of black grime left over when I had put linseed oil on our deck and railings. You don’t see the spots until the dirt has stuck to it. Those spots came off quite nicely without allot scrubbing with my microfiber cloth and the cleaner. Other times I have had to try and remove it with a goop cleaner, which didn’t work as well.

Clean Green and Lower Your Carbon Footprint!

Clean with more natural products like white vinegar, lemon juice, salt or clean with microfiber cleaning cloths to clean your home, office or vehicle in a more natural way.

With microfiber cleaning cloths you can clean with just water.

  1. Dampen a suede microfiber cloth and dust your whole house without a dusting spray. As the towel fills with dirt just rinse it out in hot water and continue dusting. A microfiber all purpose terry cloth works too, wet or dry. I prefer to dust with a suede cloth myself. The static cling on the cloth will pick up dirt, but I like to dampen it slightly to dust. The little bit of moisture in the cloth will not leave a heavy enough film on your fine furniture to cause a problem. I find moistening it helps it to work better, especially since I don’t dust often.
  2. Sweep and scrub your floors with a microfiber mop. You can dust mop it first with a dry mop head, then dampen it to quickly clean up the extra dirty spots. Microfiber picks up even the fine dirt and dust, reducing the frequency of damp mopping. No more vaccuuming needed after sweeping.
  3. Wash all your windows and mirrors with microfiber. Wash with one and dry with the other, only water needed.
  4. Clean your stainless steel appliances without having to use stainless steel cleaner when using a microfiber cleaning/dish cloth.
  5. Reduce or eliminate the amount of bathroom cleaners you use, by cleaning with microfiber.

Clean with Natural Cleaners:

  1. Cleaning with white vinegar can help deodorize, polish metal, remove soap scum and wax buildup. It helps to remove stains and dissolves mineral deposits. Shower head getting plugged soak in some vinegar and water. Make your own scrubbing bubbles with vinegar and baking soda. You can add some to water to wash windows and floors if not using microfiber. Microfiber will clean without it.
  2. Baking soda helps to neutralize acid, deodorize, extinguish a grease fire, remove some stains and you can scrub shiny metal without scratching it. Got problems with a clogged drain, use 1 cup of vinegar and 1/2 cup of baking soda to unclog. A suggestion I read once was to use the left over vinegar after cleaning your coffee pot to pour on the baking soda in the drain, it worked faster than cold vinegar. Got some stuck on food in a pan – fill pan with a solution of 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 quart of water and bring to a boil, then let set to loosen hardened food.
  3. Lemon juice can be used clean glass and remove stains from aluminum, copper, porcelain and on clothes. It will also remove stains on Formica.
  4. Table salt will remove rust, need to dirt, fleas and moth eggs from carpet, sprinkle the carpet with salt, work it into the fibers with a stiff broom and vacuum it up. (Rub tin ware with a peeled potato dipped in salt to remove rust, mix with lemon juice to clean copper, or with vinegar to polish brass).

Cutting down on or eliminating cleaning chemicals can help reduce your impact on the environment inside and outside your home. Clean healthier without chemical cleaners, using chemical cleaners frequently can increase your chances of getting cancer and are harmful to plants and animals in our world.

Tired of sweeping and resweeping your floor!

Monday, November 10th, 2008

No more sweeping and sweeping when using a microfiber dust mop. Microfiber picks up even the fine dust in one sweep. Pestered by pet hair, clean it up with a microfiber dry mop.

Do enjoy baking? How about all that flour, sugar etc. that seems to find its way out of your bowls onto the floor? Sweep it up quickly with a microfiber mop.

Do you farm, then you need a microfiber mop. They help to keep, all that barn dirt & lime that gets dragged into the house, under control.

How about you moms with young children? Get a cleaner floor with microfiber. Using microfiber helps to greatly reduce the amount of bacteria found on a hard surface, being a floor or counter top.

Microfiber mops do a better job than a broom, no more vacuuming needed after dusting with a microfiber mop; and no more dusting sheets to buy with a microfiber mop! Their head is reusable, just wash in regular laundry, dry and you’re ready to go again.

Arise ladies! No more scrubbing that floor on your hands and knees. Let the microfiber’s scrubbing ability do the work for you!

Microfiber mops are great for cleaning all sorts of hard surface floors like:

  • Hardwoods
  • Linoleum
  • Laminates
  • Marble
  • Slate
  • Ceramic Tile
  • Tile

If it has a solid surface it can be cleaned with a microfiber mop.

No chemicals are needed when cleaning/wet mopping a floor with a microfiber mop. Just wet the “head” in a bucket of warm/hot water, reattach it to the mop frame and mop away. Mopping with microfiber cleans a floor better than a string or sponge mop, and it helps to eliminate those sour smelling mops.

Using a microfiber mop is green cleaning! No chemicals here!

Some microfiber mops come with separate heads – a dusting head, dry head for sweeping the floor and a “wet” head. Others are more versatile, sweep and mop with the same head.

I like to sweep my floors with  a dry one, and then just dampen it to catch all those spots that need an extra touch. I wet the head in my sink, and wipe up those spills and dirty spots. The floor dries faster too, when damp mopped with microfiber, so you can be walking on it sooner. That way you will have less tracking across your freshly mopped floor!

Need to “catch” a cobweb or two off your walls and ceilings; take your microfiber mop after them!
